The octagonal handle tapers to a banded collar, above an openwork trilobed handle with flourishes. Description and identification Two halves of a decorated silver annular brooch frame. It is misshapen, with each part forming an elongated ‘U’ shape, which was once likely circular. The level of distortion obscures the form of the decoration on each ‘face’. The silver object is a flattened fragment of penannular arm-ring of Hiberno-Viking type, now in two conjoining pieces. It has the form of a broad flat band of silver of rectangular cross-section, and in plan. Description The reported object is a silver chape from a scabbard of a narrow-bladed weapon. It is formed of thin sheet metal, bent into a narrow tubular profile which tapers to a rounded tip.
