Early Medieval copper alloy harness mount probably of 11th century date The harness mount or strap distributor is of four-arm, cross form (four-way harness link) and is incomplete, missing one of the arms and the loop from another arm (with a surviving length of 61.5mm, a surviving width of 50.1mm and a weight of 43.7g). The arms are of D-shaped section (6.1mm wide and 5-6mm thick) with concave sides. The harness strap loops are circular to oval (9mm diameter) and are bevelled towards the rear. Maximum external diameter 40mm; internal diameter 36mm; internal depth of cup 17mm; maximum height 24mm. In its present condition (with corrosion around lid) it weighs 96.07g. There is ring-and-dot decoration around the rim top, and it is likely that the missing weights were similarly decorated. Probably fourteenth century in date.

Enamelled, shield-shaped horse harness pendant. Type I (Ward Perkins 1940, 118, fig.38). The pendant is cast in copper alloy (probably bronze) with an integral suspension loop, which is now slightly twisted. It is decorated with a heraldic device of a lion rampant possibly with a double tail on a background of blue enamel. Although ancient enamels can change their colour as a consequence of burial, microscopic study shows that blue was the enamels original colour. Pot mend of a steeply sided vessel, crudely cast. Unusual metal type - microscopic examination suggests that it is a heavily leaded copper alloy which may have a tinned surface. Most pot mends are made from straight lead alloys and that this example has been made from a leaded copper alloy suggests that it may be a mend for a copper alloy vessel rather than a ceramic pot. Close dating is not possible but a medieval or post-medieval date is most likely. Dimensions 100m x 44mm x 4-8mm.

The piece is probably the cross-hilt, inner guard or quillon of a dagger, rapier or sword, however not enough of the casting survives to be certain or suggest exactly what type of hilt this may have been part of. Bezel from a gilt or silvered copper alloy finger ring of Early Post-Medieval date. The raised cast design depicts a cuffed hand emerging from each side of the hoop and gripping a central heart. Two flowers emerge from the top of the heart and are flattened by a crown. The remnant of the hoop has the beginnings of an incised design, but not enough survives to determine if it represented decoration or an inscription. Traces of gilding or silvering survive on areas over the surface of the ring.

Two rim fragments - one fragment has a rim form that is slightly expanded and rounded internally, the fragment is heavily sooted on the exterior, as is consistent with use as a cooking vessel. The other fragment has a more angular internal rim with less sooting evident on the exterior. Short and stumpy straight ridged leg, with central rib and two less pronounced side ribs. The top of the leg has an area of the vessel body attached. The leg has evidence of sooting, with an addition thick carbon deposit on the interior of the body.
