Probable roughout for a an axehead of Neolithic date The roughout is complete and is comparably small for an axehead (with a length of 114.3mm and a weight of 199.4g) and is bifacially worked. Much of the flaking is directed from the edges and has not significantly thinned the roughout (with a maximum thickness of 32.7mm), with one of the faces (ventral) being considerably flatter. The base is flat and sub-circular with nine bold ribs (giving a diameter of 40.6mm - 13.0mm). The penannular arm-ring fragment is of Hiberno-Viking type, and has the form of a broad flat band of silver or rectangular cross-section, 3mm deep, with punched ornament on one face. The expanded mid-portion of the arm-ring tapers to the one complete and now severed ends. Description: Gilded silver heart-shaped pendant engraved with the symbols of Christ's wound. The front is made from a sheet raised in repoussé style into a dome, and vertically grooved at the top to make a heart shape. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type (Mackreth Part 3, Group 4a-4.b, flat wing ends type) and probably of late 1st - early 2nd century AD date.
