Copper alloy looped swivel of uncertain date, possibly Roman
The fitting comprises two parts (with an overall length of 42.0mm and a weight of 20.2g), a looped peg inside a double-hooked frame with socket. The loop is circular (with a diameter of 19.2mm and an internal diameter of 12.4mm) and is of eroded sub-square section. Beneath the loop is a tapering plug, seemingly cast within a circular socket and is held by two strips, which engage with grooves in the plug. Roman copper alloy enamelled belt-plate of 2nd to early 3rd century date The belt fitting is fragmentary and is represented by the end of the plate only (with a surviving length of 23.2mm and a weight of 3.7g). The fitting has a projecting circular stud or 'frog' (10.1mm diameter, 2.1mm thick and with a height of 6.7mm above the plate). The outside of the frog was notched but is now eroded.
