Copper alloy fragmentary mount, probably an Early Medieval harness mount of c. 11th century date The mount is fragmentary, represented by a fragmentary loop, an arm with decorative boss and fragmentary plate (with a surviving length of 25.8mm and a weight of 7.4g). The loop edge is curved, suggesting a circular or oval loop. The sides of loop were of oval section (5.0mm x 2.0mm). The mount is complete and was attached by two perforated and rounded side lugs (6.0mm long, 6.6mm wide and 1.8mm thick), and secured by separate rivets through carefully drilled holes (2.2mm diameter). Fragment of copper alloy sheet, openwork decorative mount. The curvilinear mount it broken across its two rebated fixing holes and its other extreme. The upper surface of the mount is decorated with an incised design consisting of three infilled three-sided curvilinear panels. Dimensions 35.1 x 25.8 x 1.5mm weighing 4.9g. The two fixing holes (diameter c.2.5mm) are surrounded by circular rebatements (diameter c.7mm) which accommodated the heads of the fixing studs or rivets.
