A complete pair of mathematical or surveyors’ dividers dating to the Post Medieval period, likely 17th-18th centuries. The globular 12.1mm wide, 11.9mm deep head of the dividers forms the hinge fulcrum, below the head the trapezoidal sectioned arms descend 20mm before they curve out and back down to form a circular aperture in the dividers. The buckle is of a double looped angled form, with an oval outside edge loop with decorative knop and an uneven rectangular/slightly trapezoidal inside edge loop. Post medieval copper alloy buckle, probably of 17th century date The cast buckle is of unusual three-dimensional and asymmetric form (with a length of 32.5mm, a height of 17mm and a weight of 4.9g). The outside of the frame is curved and bevelled (with a thickness of 1.69mm) with a notch to accommodate the missing pin. The sides are near-straight and parallel (with a width of 15.8mm). A 17th century halfpenny token. The token is inscribed *EDWARD·BEVAN· on the obverse, ·OF·MONMOVTH around the edge of the reverse and HIS HALF PENY in three lines in the centre of the reverse with EBE clockwise in a triangle from bottom left. This halfpenny was therefore issued by Edward Bevan, a tallow chandler in Monmouth, portrayed on the obverse as a man dipping two candles. It is undated, but is from the 1660's.
