An almost complete copper alloy Roman brooch of the Wirral type dating to c.AD 100-200. The brooch is almost complete, missing just the hinge mechanism and pin. It presents a stepped head the top of which connects to the headloop. On the reverse of the head is the remains of the hinge mechanism which has a small section of the pin remaining emerging from each side out of two rivet holes.  From the base of the head stretches the bow which begins in a slightly rounded arch that then curves inwards and tapers towards a narrowed foot. The object consists of a domed, concave centre that is decorated with an incised ring and dot in the centre of the dome. Protruding from opposite sides are two rounded knops. Extending from the other two opposite sides are two arms that have a D-shaped section and narrow slightly before curving outwards and terminating in a worn break. A complete but disfigured copper-alloy hooked strap fitting dating to the medieval to post medieval period (c.AD 1300-1600). The object consists of a metal bar that is roughly U-shape in plan and a variable cross-section. The shorter end creates a rectangular loop, which would have been set parallel to the side plan of the object however this has since been distorted. A complete copper alloy buckle dating to the medieval to post medieval period (c.AD 1350-1650). The buckle has an annular frame with a D-shaped section; a strap bar is centred across the frame. The pin is iron and partially survives as the loop that attached the pin to the frame. The frame is worn and corroded, no decorative details are clear. The object has a mid green patina.
