A complete vesica-shaped (pointed oval), copper alloy gilded seal matrix of a churchman of the medieval period (c.AD 1200-1300). The seal depicts a deeply inscribed image of the Virgin Mary seated with the child Jesus under a Gothic canopy. In the base, under an arch, there is a kneeling figure, likely a monk praying. Around the edge is the inscription: VIRGO DEO NOTA WILLELMI SVSCIPE VOTA (Sign of William who has undertaken his vows to God). A complete copper alloy seal matrix dating to the medieval period (c.AD 1200-1400).  The object is vesica in shape (pointed oval). To the reverse is an integral loop at the top of one point and the face presents a die with clear incised details. In the centre of the die a is a lion rampant within an incised border. Surrounding the image is the inscription: SIGVM SALVT the Latin phrase for 'Sign of Salvation. The matrix has a dark brown patina and a roughened surface. A complete cast copper-alloy seal matrix of post-medieval date (c.AD 1200-1400). The body of the matrix is in the shape of a pointed oval (vesica). The legend that runs around the circumference of the face reads ‘+SIG:RICARD W PRESTON’ which is flanked by beads on both sides. The central motif is of a lion rampant, facing left. The reverse features and integral single loop at the top of the seal, from which a ridge projects that tapers to the bottom point. A copper alloy circular flat seal matrix dating to the medieval period (c.AD 1300-1400). The matrix is circular in form with a raised rib on the reverse with an integral pierced lug. The die bears a central image of a bounding lamb and flag. Surrounding the central image is an engraved circle, which is surrounded by an inscription that reads: ' + ECCE ANGNVS DEI'. Ecce agnus dei translates to 'behold the lamb of God'. This inscription has an additional 'N' in 'AGNVS' which is likely a die error. Cast copper alloy double ended seal matrix from the 18/19th centuries. It has a very dark green and smooth patina. Both ends of the matrix are oval in shape, one face is bigger than the other. The biggest one, measuring 16mm in diameter shows a dragon rampant to the right. The smaller face is 10mm in diameter and depicts an upright bird (possibly a crow/raven), facing right. The two matrices are joined together in the middle. There is a 4-petalled flower with a circular central perforation in between the 2 matrices.
