Treasure case 2021 T760 Description: A complete gold disc pendant with filigree decoration, dating to the Early Medieval period. The pendant is formed of a flat circular sheet of gold with a ribbed suspension loop affixed to one edge. The loop is formed of a sub-rectangular ribbed strip of gold rolled over from the front of the sheet to the reverse. A plain wire loop is secured along the edge and the reverse of the suspension loop. An incomplete cast copper alloy polyhedral pin dating to the early medieval period (c.AD 700-900). The pin consists of the head and mos t of the shaft. The end of the circular cross sectioned shaft has broken off and in its current state the pin measures 19.2mm in length and weighs 2.01g. It has a thirteen faceted polyhedral head, essentially a cube with cut off corners and narrowing to a point at the base. The sides are plain and worn with no clear decoration. A copper alloy zoomorphic Anglo-Saxon hook from a hanging bowl. The object is curved in profile and is elaborately cast in the form of a beast, possibly a dog. The terminal of the beast has an elongated snout which is D-shaped in cross-section. Sitting above the snout within a raised border or collet are two circular eyes formed out of green glass. The glass is degraded and appears 'frosted', but is translucent when a light is shone across. Between and joining the eyes are two moulded ridges separated with a groove. An incomplete whetstone, dating to the early Medieval to Medieval period (c.AD 700-1400). The object is broadly triangular in plan tapering in width from the sub-oval pierced end to a rounded point. The wider end or top of the object is pierced with a circular perforation measuring 5mm in diameter. This appears to have been drilled from each face. An almost complete copper alloy pin with a kite shaped head of Early-medieval date. Only the tip of the pin is missing due to a recent break. The head is lozenge shaped with knops at each angle. Each face of the head is decorated with a central incised cross. Between the head of the object and the shaft is a transverse collar. The shaft is oval in cross-section and measures 45mm in length but is bent forwards. If straightened it would be approximately 65mm in length (not including the head). An incomplete brooch dating to the early-Medieval period. It is the head and part of the bow of a small long brooch, the rest missing due to old breaks. The head is incomplete, but is flat and cross shaped. The bow is arched and faceted and appears rectangular in section. The lower bow and foot are missing. On the reverse of the headplate is a lump of iron corrosion, the remains of the pin. The object has not been seen by the recorder and the identification is from the photograph.

Copper alloy zoomorphic strap end, Anglo Saxon in date (c AD 800-900). The strap end is of the banded type (see Haldenby 1998, Group 17), with a narrow body tapering to a zoomorphic tip and widening at the opposing end to accommodate two rivet holes. The body has banded incised decoration. The reverse is plain and the top of the strap is bent. The object has a mid green patina.

An incomplete cast copper alloy probable dress hook dating to the Early Medieval period. The object consists of a single sheet of copper alloy and is leaf shaped in plan. It is decorated with two ring-and-dot motifs in the centre and the remains of a third motif to the right had side. It is likely that another ring-and-dot motif would have decorated the left hand side forming asymmetrical decoration. The hook of the object has broken away. The object has a light green patina.
