A natural flake created by starch fracturing that has been retouched, possibly neolithic, 4000BC-2350BC. The flake is straight, with a diamond cross section, there is no idication that the flake was deliberately struck as it has no bulb of percussion or rippling. However, along one of the long edges there is some short, scaled abrupt angled retouch. This would suggest that the natural flake has been utilised as a tool due to its convenient shape and size. Length: 60.73mm Width: 26.93mm Thickness: 11.4mm Weight: 24.83g

Possibly a fragment of a mesolithic tranchet axe that has been retouched and used as a scraper. The object is square in profile and roughly triangular in section. It has no cortex remaining on it and the dorsal surface is marked by two larger flake scars making the triangular section. The ventral surface is relatively flat with some shallow scarring from the removal of flakes at a low angle. Around the edges of the object is some crushing damage but also some suggestion of retouch that is short, abrupt and scaled. The distal end of the object is neatly formed by some smaller flake rem…

A neolithic flint flake with retouch long both long edges. A relatively thick secondary flake with a large bulb of percussion and rippling. The retouch is short, scaled and at an abrupt angle, running along the length of flake's edges. The flake itself is broadly triangular with some cortex remaining on the dorsal surface. The flint is dark grey, almost black in colour with some light grey inclusions. It is possible that the implement is a simple scraper given the abrupt angle of retouch and the lack of shaping. An incomplete Mesolithic flint blade, dating 10,000 - 4,300BC. The striking platform is no longer present but the bulb of percussion is visible on the ventral side, with undulations radiating away. There are three ridges on the dorsal side which indicate at least three blades being removed, as one edge is slightly rounder than the rest and probably did not have a blade removed. There is evidence of retouch on the right edge of the ventral side. The object is made from a mid-dark grey flint. There is concretion along the rounded edge and the proximal end appears to have suffered later …

A Lower Palaeolithic flint biface dating 400,000 - 150,000BC. This biface is triangular in plan with a rounded butt and rounded tip. Flake removal scars cover both the dorsal and ventral surfaces. The irregular shape of the raw flint is indicated by a depression filled with white cortex roughly half way up the ventral surface. There is an irregular notch removed on the left side of the dorsal face near the butt. There is evidence of retouch on both edges from the dorsal surface. The flint has a brown/dark grey patina with a dark grey-white cortex on the proximal end. Dimensions: le…

A Prehistoric, possibly Bronze age flint tool. The removals have created a lozenge-shaped tool with a longer point on the working end. The working end has a triangular cross-section and a blunt tip. There is an area of cortex surviving on the one side near the butt. Jon Cotton describes this as a nosed piece with abrupt retouch. honey coloured flint. A Palaeolithic flint biface dating 400,000 - 10,000BC. This biface is triangular in plan with a rounded butt and rounded tip. There is some irregularity in the flint at the butt which seems to be eroded fossils. Flake removal scars cover both the dorsal and ventral surfaces. Approximately midway along the left hand edge there is curved indent with further retouch which has been worked from the dorsal surface. There is also some more modern edge damage.
