A Medieval copper alloy French jetton dating to the period c.AD 1418 - 1437. 'Shield of France' type. Triple stranded straight cross fleuretty in four arched tressure reverse. Pierced In two places, one each on either side of the bottom of the shield.
The object has similarities with YORYM-9B2202 which notes that similar jettons are illustrated in Mitchiner, p.191-193 in which the Shield of France is described as a modern issue dated c.1418 - 1437 AD, probably struck at Paris. Obverse: sailing ship with rigging and sail, with waves beneath, the bow has a pennant pole on the right, the stern a flag on the left.
Reverse: Four fleur-de-lis in a lozenge surounded with rosettes flanked by pellets in each quarter of the field.

The obverse depicts a central rosette around which are two lis and a crown, the rest of the image is very worn. The legend reads GLICK IST WAL[CZET] VND (Fortune is changeable). The reverse depicts an orb within a tri-lobed, double tressure. The legend reads HAN[S SCH]VLTES . ZV . NVRE. The jetton is partially folded, roughly along its centre.
