A part of a silver half groat of Elizabeth 1st. It has been folded, and had broken along this fold line into approximatly half along the diamteer. It has alo been pierced with a neat, round hole, probably contemporaneously. It has also suffered possibly more modern damage, having been pierced with a square bladed implement, from the same side as the round hole was made. It is worn and details are difficult to ascertain. A complete copper alloy trade weight, one of a set that would have stacked. It is circular with a raised rim, and the weight would suggest that it is 1/2 ounce. Inside are the stamps of a laver or coffee pot, the inspection mark of the Worshipful Company of Founders, who controlled the lawful making of weights in London and for three miles around (Withers and Withers 2011, page 78). A small, domed copper alloy button with a hollow back, into which the shank, which is broken, is fixed. The face is decorated with a moulded, regular floral design, and has been gilded. The makers name is moulded around the edge on the rear of the button. Around the raised outer are many parallel lines from the edge into the centre. A small, copper alloy model of a quadruped with a long tail, possibly a lioness, leopard or similar. It is missing most of its very thin legs. The body is curled around, the head being inside this curl, facing semi-sideways, with a posisble short mane marked on the back. The waist is narrow and the haunches are well defined. A complete copper alloy dress hook The artefact body is broadly circular, with openwork moulding in the form of four circles either side of the central motif. In the base is a V shaped frame and sitting in this is a relief moulded pineapple or pine cone. An almost complete copper alloy brooch of headstud type. The bow has a moulded stud on the curve at the top. The short wings extend either side of the head, and above these the plate on which the missing spring and pin would have mounted is present, decorated with three horizontal lines. The bow ends with a circular foot. The catch plate is present but incomplete. The cylindrical mount for the spring is still on the reverse but is incomplete. A copper alloy Roman Prestatyn type brooch. The bow is wider at the top, narrowing to a rounded tip. It is divided into two vertical cells with a cast in line, these may have been enamelled. It would be D shaped in plan when complete, what survives here is part of the base and a section of one side.
