A base Roman silver denarius of Caracalla (AD 198-217), probably dating to the period c.AD 201-202 (Reece period 10). PART MAX PONT [TR P IIII/V] COS reverse type depicting two captives seated back to back either side of a central trophy. Prototpye of the mint of Rome. cf. RIC IV.1, nos. 55, 64.
It measures 17.33mm in diameter, 2.08mm in thickness, and weighs 2.68g. Die axis: 12 o'clock.

The coin does appear base, but silver denarii of this period can discolour because they were struck in debased silver. It is possible, however, that this is a contemporary copy.
