A Medieval silver voided long cross penny of Henry III (AD 1216 - 1272). Description: Class 1b/2a mule, minted by Willem c. AD 1248 at Canterbury. Obverse has beard made up of strokes rather than the more usual pellets. Measurements: Diameter: 16.9 mm and Weight: 1.34 g. Obverse: Crowned bust facing, the inscription reads: +HENRIC DI GRA REX ANG ET FRANC. Reverse: Longcross with three pellets in each quarter, the inscription reads: POSVI / DEVM A / DIVTO / R MEV // CIVI / TAS / CAN / TOR. Measurements: Diameter: 19.72 mm; Thickness: 0.66 mm and Weight: 1.33 g. Discussion: See Spink, No.2211 and North, No.1712 (Class IIIc).
