Copper alloy brooch, Colchester derivative rear hook type. Missing spring, pin, rear hook, catchplate, otherwise in good condition. On the back of the wings there is corrosion only on the right hand one (as viewed from back), probably the result of an area of solder. The wings have a concave moulding flanked by narrow ribs (the inner ones probably notched). The bow is round in section and tapers to a blunt point (damaged). In profile the upper bow is humped. A raised semicircle on the sides of the top of the bow reflects the wing curve and extends under the bow to form a separate eleme…

Copper alloy brooch, Colchester type. Missing one wing, spring hook, half of spring, pin, catchplate; other wing and spring bent; surface badly corroded. Flat wing is apparently undecorated. Lentoid section bow, tapering to a blunt point, with no surviving decoration. In profile there is a sharp bend at the top and the rest of the bow is almost straight. Surviving length 54mm, surviving width 10mm. Profile might suggest an early Colchester cf Kelvedon (Rodwell 1987) no. 14 and Thetford Fison Way (1992) no.1.
