A heavily worn silver short cross penny which has been torn rather than deliberately cut. The coin is struck in London most likely to be from the reign of King John (AD 1199-1216). The reason for this is based on the style of the hair (being pellet within curl / crescent) and the form of the E which is stylistically similar to that seen in Class 5b - 6a. This refines the date to the period AD 1204-1217.
