A gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377) dated to the pre-treaty period AD 1351-61. A more precise identification cannot be achieved due to the wear and condition of the coin. The external edge of the flan is feathered and the edge is folded. A pentangular shaped hole is present through the centre of the coin. The edges are slightly clipped. The record and coin have been discussed with Dr John Naylor (National Finds Advsior medieval coinage) who notes that: the central piercing is a a rather untidy looking hole so I can't imagine it's intended for adaptation, rather …
