A complete post-medieval silver hammered half groat of King James I (AD 1603-1625), of the First Coinage dating to AD 1603-1604. Lis initial mark. Tower of London mint. See North, II, 1991, p. 144, no. 2076. Obverse: Crowned bust of king facing right. Roman numeral 'II' to left, behind head. Obverse inscription: [...]OSA . SINE . SPINA. Reverse: Squared shield bearing the royal coat of arms. Initial mark of Lis above the shield. Reverse inscription: No inscription. It measures 18.58mm in diameter, 1.01mm in thickness, and weighs 0.96g. Die Axis: 4 o'clock.

A silver half groat of James I (1603-1625). The coin was struck as part of the Second Issue coinage and dating between 1604-1619. The coin is pierced from the reverse through to the obverseby a square shaped punch - the small amount of spall has not been trimmed - the hole is positioned at 3 o'clock and is placed neatly between the edge of the crowned thistle and teh inscription North: 2104-2105.

A silver shilling of James I (1603-1625) which is heavily worn and clipped to the size of a sixpence. The inscription and external edges of teh coins have been completely removed and the bust on the obverse is heavily worn. Based on the form of the shield on the reverse the coin is most likely to be from th efirst or second issues (1603-1619). The clipping of the coin is often observed in material from the civil war and interregnum (commonwealth).
