A complete silver milled shilling of William III (1694-1702). The coin is dated 1696. Mint not known. The obverse shows a laureate and draped bust facing right. Obverse legend reads GVLIELMVS III DEI GRA. The reverse shows a central circle containing the lion of Nassau with four shields arranged around which together form a cruciform shape. The shields contain a harp, one lion rampant, three lions passant and three fleurs-de-lis. Reverse legend reads MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX. Diameter: 25.29mm. Thickness: 1.32mm. Weight: 5.9mm. Die axis: 6 o'clock. Sealby nos 3518-9

A silver post medieval milled coin - most probably a silver sixpence of William III. The coin has been heavily burnt and slightly distorted resulting in the loss of almost all detail. The external edge of the flan is milled where it is best preserved, as are small elements of the inscription. The coin measures: 18.6mm diameter, is 1.2mm thick and weighs 2.1 grams.
