Silver cut half penny of Plantagenant King (Henry II - Henry III), struck in Canterbury by an unknown moneyer. The coin is heavily worn and difficult to interpret, (it being cut in half doesn't help) the lettering within the inscription is crude and very widely spaced and irregular. There is one diagnostic letter: A which seems best to correspond with Class 7b (Henry III) dated 1222-1236. This A is very square or blocky in shape with a lentoid bar and clear serrifs on the uprights. Class 7b is also noted for being very coarse in style and inscription

Silver cut half penny of Henry III, struck in Canterbury by the moneyer Nic(h)ole. The coin is most probably best classified as Class 3 a or Class 3b ; struck between 1248-1250 AD. This is due to the spacing of the inscription on the obverse and the ligature of NR of HENRICVS rather than ENR (more prevalant in class 3c).
