A silver farthing of Edward I (1272-1307) struck at the mint in London. This coin has been mis-struck and is what is known as a brocage - brocages occur when the previous coin remains on the die and is then struck over this coin. This creates a negative impression of - in this case - the reverse over a faint outline of the obverse. Such errors seldom leave the mint and as such this is a rare survival. Due to the lack of obverse preservation a more detailed date cannot be suggested.
