A modern silver medal with the date AD 1897. The medal is circular with a lipped edge. The medal has an integral cast laterally-pierced loop with a further loop suspended. This additional loop was either for a ribbon or possibly suggests that it was reused as a chain fob for a watch. The obverse depicts two figures beneath a palm tree. The figure on the left is standing holding a jug upon her head, wearing a floor length dress. The figure on the right is seated with a jug resting on the ground.
