A large oval shaped end and side scraper formed on a specifically prepared secondary flake dating from the Neolithic or early Bronze Age periods (3500-2100 BC). The ventral face shows conchoidal ripples and the bulb of percussion; the proximal end has a distinct prepared platform showing good preparation of the core prior to striking . The dorsal face has a number of regular flake removal scars along with an area on the back of mid yellow mottled cortex (possibly acting as a grip for use). The entire crescentic edge of the opposing side has been reworked / retouched with steep angled …

Object type: BUCKLE
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Gloucestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A complete cast copper alloy double looped buckle of probable later medieval or post-medieval date (1350-1650). The buckle frame is complete being broadly oval (figure of eight) in plan with a slight central bar. The pin is lost but would have been formed from a length of iron sheet that was attached to the central bar by the end being folded to form an irregular 'wrap around' loop. The central bar and the opposing inner edge of one loop are heavily stained with an iron cocreation - probably the remains of the pin. There is no evidence on the frame of a pin reset or incised or applied…

Two heavily worn and apparently fused copper alloy Roman coins - both are too poorly preserved for more detailed recording and were either Radiates or Nummi (AD 260-360). The act of fusing is uncertain - both flans are irregular in shape and conjoined along one overlapping edge apparent on one face - the opposing side is corroded and it is uncertain if the two parts are fused through heat, corrosion or potentially conjoined or distorted through another process.

A highly eroded and corroded copper alloy fragment of a radiate or nummus of uncertain date AD 260 - 360. The coin is too poorly preserved to identify further.
One face of the coin has a heavily eroded fragment of Roman pottery adhering to the surface - welded by surface corrosion products. The pottery is heavily laminated but a clear oxidised (orange) exterior surface and reduced (grey) interior is present. Not enough survives to be certain of the vessel - but the fabric is similar to Severn Valley Ware and the potential thin walled nature of sherd indicates a small cup or tanka…

A fragment from the tip of a Middle to Late Bronze Age spearhead c.1500-800 BC. The fragment comprises the extreme tip and is relatively well preserved. The piece is sub-triangular in plan with a distinctive bi-convex profile. The break is old and patinated but the artefact is relatively unabraded. Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A near complete Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged flint arrowhead. This arrowhead has been knapped from a mottled mid grey white coloured piece of flint. It is broadly sub-triangular in plan and lentoid in cross section. The arrowhead has been knapped using a number of different techniques, including direct and indirect percussion, as well as pressure / ripple / invasive flaking. Originally it was broadly symmetrical in shape; however due to movement within the soil one barb and the tip are lost due to recent unpatinated breaks. Both the long sides of the arrowhead have been retouch…
