Copper alloy radiate of Carausius (AD 286-93) (Reece Period 14), COMES AVG, Victory advancing right, holding wreath and palm. Unatttributed Mint. Not recorded in RIC V, pt 2. The obverse legend has a die engraver's error, the I in Carausius being omitted: IMP C CARAVSVS P AVG. The intended legend would have been IMP C CARAVSIVS P AVG. Three other coins with this reverse type are known, all with different obverse legends: IMP CARAVSIVS P AV, IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG and IMP C CARAVSIVS P F AVG. It does not appear to share a reverse die with the other specimens.
