‘Plough pebble’ made from a natural quartz on has been worn a worn, polished surface covered in fine striations. This surface is curved in one direction with one edge having a sharper radius, the striations run at 90o to the curve and the surface is flat in this direction. Dimensions: 22.8 x 21.3 x 21.2mm high, Mass 13.98g. Plough pebbles are an interesting phenomenon; finds from Denmark show them to have been used to armour the soles of a wooden ploughs to prevent premature wear. Piece of fire-cracked stone, so-called 'pot-boiler', The fragment came from a quartzite cobble which was shattered when heated and dropped into water. Part of the original surface survives and bears traces of crazed cracking, the other faces show a hackly fracture and the rock shows some signs of reddening. Length 42.6mm, Width 42.6mm, Thickness 35.0mm, Mass 68.96g Stones like these were used in the heating of large quantities of water in wooden troughs. They are known from Bronze Age contexts but also occure on Early Medieval sites.

Oblate hammerstone made from quartzite the surface of which is dark brown. Around the equator is a band of marks left by hammering. On the opposite side of the equator is a smaller battered area. Not datable but probably Prehistoric. 51.6 x 49.6mm diameter x 40.8mm High.

Fragment of a perforated stone object, disc shaped with a flattened oval section 35.4 x 16.0mm. Hole, 22.3mm diameter chipped through centre, hour-glass type perforation. The object is irregularly shaped and has suffered much damage, only half survives and one face of this half is missing. Stone fine grained with some particles of angular quartz. It likely to be a quartz dolerite from the Whin Sill which would suggest a late Neolithic - early Bronze Age date. The exterior of the object is light brown, the interior mid grey.
