Object is a copper alloy zoomorphic pennanular finger-ring thought to date to the Roman Period (c.50 to 150AD). The ring consists of a coiled flattened rod which terminates in a flattened, rounded snake's head, and a rounded tail. There appears to be some chevron type decoration on the ring which may signify scales. The ring appears to have been crushed slightly and therefore may be more coiled than originally intended. The ring has a dark green/grey patina. The ring weighs 1.6g and is approximately 16.10mm in diameter, the band is 3.24mm in width and is 1.30mm thick.

Cast copper alloy ring. It is very corroded but a polished olive green surface on the inside of the band is still just visible. The outside of the band is spotted with severe patches of bright green corrosion. There are two parallel grooves running across the outside of the band that are interrupted by the corrosion. This is probably of Iron age or Roman date but it is not certain.
