A medieval copper cavallo from the Italian states under French rule, probably of Charles VIII of France (1483-98), struck in Chieti (Duplessy 636). The coin is in poor style and it is possible that it may be an imitation or later token produced in that style. The obverse has what appears to be French shield with crude fleur de lis and a counter stamped fleur de lis of the same crude design to the top left corner of the shield. There is evidence of a legend with a retrograde N to the right of the shield. The reverse has an off centre cross with crude, stylised fleur de l…

An incomplete, post-medieval copper alloy mount. The mount has a heart-shaped upper part which tapers down to a smaller triangular middle part, which in turn tapers to a narrow lozenge-shaped area at the bottom of the mount. On the front of the mount, there are traces of decoration on the heart-shaped upper part but corrosion has obscured this; however, there is the remains of a rivet placed centrally, just below the heart-shaped curve at the top of the mount; this is also discernible on the reverse of the object.
Below the top part of the mount, the tria…
