A near complete cast copper alloy decorated flat axehead probably of Needham’s Class 3, possibly type b (Boreland) c. 2200-1900 BC. The axe is broken mid-blade with none of the butt remaining, making further diagnostics unobtainable. There are two grooves running down the centre of the blade on one side which thicken and flare before terminating before the blades edge. Measurements: Length 87.1mm, Width 88.7mm at blade, tapering to 40.6mm at break, Thickness 11mm at break, tapering to 3.9mm at cutting edge, Weight 277g.

An incomplete post-medieval book clasp, of Howsam type A.3 dating to the 15th to16th centuries. It is in two pieces. It is comprises a long, thin strip of copper-alloy sheet, with one end slightly flared. It tapers to the opposite end which was originally hooked. but this is now damaged. At the hooked end the clasp retains one central rivet, with two concentric rings around it. The clasp is pierced by three holes transversely at the flared end, the central hole being blocked by iron corrosion while the outer two are empty.  Near the edge of the f…

An undiagnostic body sherd made of South West micaceous granite-derived fabric.  The fabric has a reduced grey core and oxidised orange margins. The temper is poorly sorted, abundant mica with occasional other pieces such as iron rich material and stone. There are three slight girth grooves on the exterior. A complete iron horseshoe dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1050-1250. The shoe is large and relatively narrow in diameter, arched with a wavy outer edge comprising of three large waves on each side. At the apex of the shoe there is a small area of damage, where the shoe is narrowest and the surface is frayed. A copper alloy post medieval brooch, dating to c. AD 1600-1750. The object is oval in shape, with a domed interior. It is plain and undecorated, with many scratches and much wear on the outer surface which is largely now a dark green in colour. An incomplete copper alloy and iron harness boss dating to the post medieval period, c. AD 1500-1700. The front of the boss is copper alloy, adhered to an iron backplate with one of two iron attachment loops surviving. Three iron rivets originally joined the front and back plates and are very visible as pockets of iron corrosion on the front surface. The boss is circular in shape with a deep dome at its centre. A modern copper alloy Cornish penny token dating to AD 1811. Obverse: a pumping engine and winding machine (equipment central to tin mining). Beneath the image is the date 1811. Reverse: three metal ingots above and below a central horizontal fish, probably intended to represent copper, tin and a pilchard. These tokens were found throughout Cornwall in the 18th and 19th century, with the iconography depicting the main industries of the County.
