A complete post-medieval silver cufflink emblazoned with a portrait of Queen Anne of England (AD 1701-1714) on both its disc elements. The disc elements are circular in plan and present a portrait bust of the queen facing left. The bust sits on a stippled background which is surrounded by an incised groove which traces the circumference of the disc. A thick loop has been soldered onto the reverse, and this is connected to an elongated oval shaped link which connects the two discs to one another.

A Post Medieval silver cufflink element. A disc from one end of a cufflink. On the front is a raised design of a heart with a small flame rising from the top and two arrows in saltire behind it. The raised design is surrounded by a stippled background within a raised circular border. Beyond this is a down turned edge forming the side ending in an out turned lip. Corresponding recessed areas on the back suggest the design was stamped. A set of Post Medieval white metal cuff links dating to c. AD 1750-1850. This set of cuff links consists of two octagonal discs secured by a long oval link. Each disc has a concave reverse and an integral loop. The front surface is decorated with a central rose design with five petals around a central cross hatched disc, and a small calyx projecting between each petal, all within a plain linear border.
Cuff links with similar designs are recorded on the database e.g. IOW-4A7C02 and LON-C990D7 which are both silver examples with the note that this design was popular at the end of the …

Description: A post-medieval silver cufflink. Both elements of the cufflink survive, attached by a sub-oval silver wire link. Each element is circular in plan, flat with a downturned edge and flat rim. The disc has been stamped with a design of two hearts surmounted by a single crown. A copper alloy wire loop is soldered onto the reverse of each.
Dimensions: Each element is c.14.1mm in diameter and 4.8mm thick, the wire loop is 14.5mm long; altogether it weighs 1.49g.

A Post Medieval stamped silver cuff link disc from one end of a cuff link. It is circular in plan and has a down-turned edge which then projects outwards to form an out-turned lip. The front face has a raised design of a heart with a flame rising from the top and two oblique arrows in saltire behind it (Lewis Form 1, Type B). The raised design is surrounded by a stippled background within a raised circular border.The reverse has the remains of an attachment loop, which has broken away and is missing. A Post Medieval copper alloy pair of cuff links. Each cuff link is octagonal in plan. The front faces are slightly convex and a grooved decoration runs around the outer edge of the circumference. The backfaces are plain and there is a semi-circular attachment loop at the centre. A circuit of circular section wire runs through both loops, attaching both cuff links to each other. Read (1988) lists two octagonal shaped cuff links (p134 -135, figure 28, numbers 10 and 12), which Read dates to the 18th century.
