The initial mark on the obverse and reverse is an ermine. On the obverse, the crowned bust is facing left with a rose behind. The inscription on the obverse is 'Elizabeth DG Ang Fra Et Hib Regina.' Much of the inscription has worn away and only the bottom of the bust can be seen; the rest of the face and crown are obscured by wear and abrasion. The coin is now misshapen and has chipped edges.
A square shield on a long cross fourchee is on the reverse; the cross divides the inscription on the edge of the coin. The date '157 ' is above the shield but the last number of the date is missing. The inscription on the reverse reads 'Posui Deu Adiutorem Meu.'
