A complete copper alloy button of post-medieval date, c. AD. 1825-1900. It is a large, flat discoid button with a central design of a twelve pointed star on the front surface; the circumference is decorated with tiny scallop-shaped stamps which can be seen over much of the circular edge, but some of the stamps have worn away. The twelve pointed star has small stamped dots or pellets between each of the star points, the dots alternating with the points. An incomplete lead/tin alloy button of post-medieval date, c. 17th century. A composite, discoidal, two-piece button with a solid convex front and a flat back. It is undecorated apart from a small knop at the centre of the convex front. There are two side-by-side depressions centrally located on the rear where the missing looped shank would have attached. Measurements: diameter 13.60 mm, thickness 4.07 mm, weight 2.13 g. Similar examples are recorded in Read, B, 2005, Metal Buttons c. 900 BC - c. AD 1700, p. 76, nos. 304 & 305.

A post-medieval copper-alloy button with an integral drilled loop dating to the 17th century AD. This button is discoidal with a concave reverse and a convex front. The main design consists of a quatrefoil over the centre of a cross whose arms are formed of two engraved parallel lines. There is a punched ring-and-dot deign at the centre of the quatrefoil. A post-medieval copper-alloy discoidal, flat button with an incomplete integral drilled loop dating to the 17th century AD.  The decoration consists of a punched central circle and dot with an engraved clockwise hatched four-bladed impeller. In between the blades are four more circle-and-dot designs, all within a circular border.  Measurements: 23 mm in diameter and 6.35 g in weight A close parallel may be found illustrated in Read (2010, 39, no. 135), both in terms of decoration and module.

A copper alloy livery button. A circular button  with a looped wire shank at the rear. The front is clightly convex and decorated with a relief design of a crest comprising an armoured arm holding a flag. The flag is decorated with a face on a field of stars and a cross-hatched background. The reverse is flat and bears the makers mark of FIRMIN AND WESTALL. There are traces of white metal coating on the front. Date: Modern  - .1794 - 1811 Measurements: 24mm in diameter, 4mm in thickness and 5.11g in weight.

An incomplete copper alloy button dating to the post medieval period, c. AD 1500-1700. The button would have originally been circular in shape and flattened in section. Approximately 50% of the button now survives. It is an openwork design, composed of three large apertures in the centre and four smaller circular apertures which are preserved in full. A post-medieval decorative button dating to c. AD 1600-1750. The buckle is circular in shape and rectangular in section. It is silvered, with a decorative design etched into the silvering. The design is composed of a sexfoil rose n the centre of an interlocking twelve-pointed star composed of multiple parallel lines. It is secured by a two rivets which are attached to a small plate, in the centre of which is the stub of the attachment loop. Measurements: 20.5 mm diameter, 4.9 mm thickness, weight 5.14 g.

A silvered copper alloy button dating to the post medieval period, c. AD 1794-1803. The button is circular in shape and flattened in section, with a circular soldered loop still attached. It bears the legend "AXMINSTER VOLUNTEERS" arranged in a perimeter legend around a crown. The legend refers to a small regiment of foot raised in Axminster in 1794 and commanded by a Captain William Tucker. It was still in existence in 1801, but by 1803 had been incorporated into the North Devon Regiment of Militia. Measurements: 19.7mm diameter, 7.1mm thickness, weight 3.35g.

An incomplete copper alloy button dating to the post medieval period, c. AD 1700-1800. The button is broad and damaged, with its edges folded to create a tubular shape. Originally, it would have been circular in plan and domed in section, with a central soldered loop present. This is now missing. It is very worn, and the surface is badly affected, but a suggestion of impressed decoration may survive, forming a latticework around the external perimeter of the button. An incomplete post medieval copper alloy button dating to c. AD 1550-1650. The button is circular in plan and domed in shape, with a slightly hollowed reverse. In the centre of the reverse is the shank, which is cast and would have been drilled. Part of the upper shank including the attachment loop is now missing. The upper surface is decorated with a floral design of a flower with eight petals and a central impressed pellet. It is similar to an example illustrated in Read (2005:32) no. 106. Measurements: 13.4mm diameter, 4.1mm thickness, weight 3.39g.

An incomplete copper alloy police button dating to the modern period, c. 1920-1952. The button is circular in plan and domed, with a raised inner ridge following the perimeter. It is silvered on teh upper surface but this is worn. Embossed raised letters read DEVON CONSTABULARY. In the centre is a large crown with two arches is present. There is a small hole on the reverse where the shank would have been attached, but it is now missing. Measurements: 22.9mm diameter, 6.8mm thickness, weight 3.63g.
