A contemporary forgery of a post medieval milled silver sixpence of William III (1694-1702) dating to AD 1696. As Spink (2007: 352-5), no 3520-48. The silver coating of the coin has worn away on the reverse, leaving the copper alloy undersurface clear. The silver coating may also be an alloy with tin as it is exceptionally shiny. The lettering of the reverse and obverse legends is also slightly idiosyncratic. Measurements: 20.9mm diameter, weight 2.74g.
