A copper alloy Medieval jetton: an English 'standing king under canopy' jetton (the English examples are inspired by the French 'king under canopy' issue) with a central circular depression on the reverse and dating form AD 1350 - 1400. The 'standing king under canopy' issue dates to the second half of the 14th century (Mitchiner, 1998: 122). This design features in Merrick's online catalogue as no. 5a.2.22. Merrick categorises this form of jetton as a REX ANG obverse with type 22 reverse type. SUR-DDE764 and SWYOR-B0C89B have very similar reverses also featuring spread eagles. 21.33…

A copper alloy jetton from the post medieval period (c. AD 1586-1635). An example of a Nuremberg token, probably minted by Hans Krauwinkel II in Nuremberg, Germany, with the obverse showing the Imperial orb contained within a tressure of three arches and three points and the reverse showing three crowns and three lis surrounding a broken rose. YORYM-867252 is a very similar example. See Mitchiner (1988) Jetons, Medalets and Tokens, vol. I, p. 445, nos. 1574 - 1578. 19.6mm diameter, 0.53mm thick, 0.71g weight.

Obverse depicting a central crown, with three peirced rosettes on the band and a saltire between the central jewel and fleurs. Reverse depicting a triple-stranded cross fleuretty with quatrefoil at the centre within a four arched tressure with elaborated cusps. cf. Mernick & Algar (2001: 228) no. 75. The edge of the jetton has two old breaks on the circumference.

An incomplete Late Medieval Tournai (late) Shield of France modern type Jetton, probably dating to c. AD 1400-1500. Highly abraded and missing much of its original edge to a worn break. Obverse depicts a square topped shield with recurved sides containing three fleur-de-lis, reverse depicts a triple stranded cross fleury within a quadrilobe. See Mernick and Algar (1991: 232-235) nos. 118-150. Although the die axis cannot be measured, the reverse' cross is orientated at 45 degrees to the obverse.
