Roman copper-alloy as, probably a contemporary copy of Claudius (41- 54 AD) (Reece Period 2). The coin is very worn, but there is a left facing head on the obverse and possibly traces of Minerva on the reverse. (Checked by SM). (Checked by SM) Woytek lists four examples of this coin, from Copenhagen, Verona, the American Numismatic Society and the van der Dussen Sale 12 (9 10 1989, lot 1508). To the best of my (Sam Moorhead) knowledge there is no example of this coin in a British Collection.
