A post-medieval copper-alloy double looped oval buckle, dating to c. AD 1550-1650, incomplete insofar as it is missing its pin. The frame is decorated with bilobed knops at two symmetrical points on the outer edge of each loop. There should be a pair of rosettes positioned at the centre of the outer edge of each loop but the design is very worn. Lobed knops protrude at either end of the pin bar, which is narrowed and slightly bent inwards. The frame is bent in profile, most likely from damage rather than use.  Measurements: 49 mm in length, 35 mm in widt…

A distorted copper-alloy, symmetrical, double-loop buckle, of post-medieval date (c. 16th century), incomplete only insofar as it is missing its pin. The buckle consists of a pair of oval loops. A small rounded knop is present either end of the central pin bar. There is a moulded rose at the centre of each outer edge, perhaps with six petals on each rose. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The frame is angled in profile with one of the loops having been bent upwards; it is unclear how much of this is as a result of use and how much post-depositiona…

An incomplete copper alloy composite buckle with forked spacer, dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1300-1400. A single spacer and part of the single loop frame survives. Around 30% of the circumference of the loop survives. It is triangular in cross section. The spacer is long and tapers to a sharp point, and is trapezoid in section. There is a marked groove on the rectangular point at which the spacer joins the frame, which appears decorative. There is a slight shine to the now green copper alloy surface which suggests it may have once been silvered. Egan and Pritchard …

A Medieval copper alloy 'locking buckle', dating to c. AD 1350-1450. Comprising of a double-looped, asymetrical rectangular buckle frame, with an off-centre expansion in profile, perforated to accomodate a separate copper alloy spindle. The outside edge of the larger loop is expanded, with a central croove forming a pin rest. The pin comprises of a cylindrical chape, through which the sindle is fed, with an integral triangular projection forming the pin. Projecting beyond the frame the spindle forms one part of a larger 'U-shaped' arm, with a cast, sub-spherical knop at the terminal. …

A Medieval copper alloy single-looped buckle with surviving incomplete copper alloy sheet plate, probably dating to c. AD 1150-1350. The buckle frame is oval in plan, with a narrowed and slightly offset bar and with an elaborated outer edge, cast into three knops divided by transverse bands. The upper face of the frame is internally bevelled, whilst the reverse is flat. A simple rectangular copper alloy sheet plate is wrapped around the bar, incomplete and truncated in line with a circular perfration, now incomplete, and with a second circular perforation to accomodate a simple copper…
