The coin is double struck, with both the obverse and reverse face overstruck by the opposing die.

The coin has been slightly clipped around the edges; the mintmark is not clear, but it is probably a rose, which would date the coin to being minted in the years 1605- 6 or 1623-4 AD. The petals on the obverse rose are in the later style, so the coin can be dated to 1623- 1624 AD. Spink number 2659; North number 2104.
