Silver cut half of a voided long cross penny of Henry III (1216-1272), Class II (1248), minted at Exeter. The letters NR are ligatured in the obverse legend and their position around the bust suggests the rest of the legend would have been [*h]ENRICVS [REX TERCI]. The only letters from the mint signature visible on the reverse are [PhI/LIP]/ON/ECC, which suggests the moneyer might be Philip, Robert or Walter, who all have six letters and minted Class II pennies in Exeter.

A silver cut half of a voided long cross penny of Henry III (1216-1272), Class 3b or 3c (1248-1250), struck at the Newcastle mint. The moneyer's name is not present, but the men operating from the Newcastle mint at the time of Class III were Roger, Adam, Henri and Ion (North, 1994, Vol.1, p.226, nos.987-988) and there is room for 5 letters so the moneyer is either Roger or Henri. The obverse is cut vertically through the crowned head, but the star initial mark is visible above the central fleur of the crown.
