An incomplete, cast, copper-alloy probable strap end of probable Roman to Medieval date, (c. AD 43 - 1500). It is rectangular in plan and tapers slightly towards a rounded terminal. There is a worn transverse break at the wider rectilinear end.  There is no visible evidence of any attachment points remaining, these were probably situated above the break.  It has a smooth, dark brown patina and is undecorated. The object is broadly cylindrical, being sub-rectangular in plan and circular in cross-section. It is bent or curved at the thickest end, just below a worn break, and tapers to a sharp point. An incomplete copper-alloy heraldic shield-shaped mount or plaque (c. 1200-c. 1450). The mount is slightly curved in profile and there is damage and some distortion with the lower part missing. The face of the mount consists of a lion rampant queue forchee (forked tail). The lack of tincture makes it tricky to attribute any further. The reverse is undecorated. Fragment of an Anglo-Scandinavian copper alloy cheekpiece from a bridle bit, flat in section, 6 mm thick, with Ringerike style decoration in the form of a curved stylised dragon or horse head with projecting crest, similar to a the coxcomb of a cockerel, of four points. An incomplete cast Anglo-Scandinavian zoomorphic copper-alloy harness fitting, probably part of a cheekpiece, dating from the 11th century. There is a stylised engraving which appears to be a horses head and mane above two rounded projections. The complete end has a long bar that is D-shaped in section and is 7 mm wide and 5 mm in height, which then terminates in a raised and rounded knop, 8 mm in diameter. Mitchiner (1988) refers to his ship penny jettons on p.411, no.1, but does not illustrate an example and refers to Barnard (1981) who illustrates a very similar jetton on p.210, pl.XXIX, no.13, which according to Mitchiner is attributed to Hans Schultes III.

Roman silver radiate coin of Philip I (AD 244-249), dating to AD 248 (Reece Period 12), SAECVLARES AVGG // II reverse type depicting a she-wolf standing left suckling Romulus and Remus. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, pt 3, p. 70, no. 70 / pl. 6, no. 15. The coin has a cut mark across the face of the emperor which has not penetrated the thickness of the coin. It was issued in Rome in AD 248 to publicise the Secular Games which were part of the celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Rome (753 BC) in AD 248.

A copper alloy Anglo Saxon disc brooch, incomplete, missing its catch plate and pin, but otherwise in excellent condition.
