A pierced silver Medieval halfgroat coin, of Henry VII, AD 1485-1509. This is a class IIIb dating to AD 1490s. Obverse shows a Forward facing crowned bust within multifoil. Obverse legend reads: hENRI[C DI] GRA.REX.ANGLI.Z.[FR...] with rosette stops. The reverse shows a Long cross fourchee with three pellets per quarter and legend in two concentric circles reading: + POSVI/[DEVM] A/DIVTO[R]/E[M] MEV - CIVI/TAS/LON/DON. Obverse initial mark is a Tun, indicating the provincial mint at Canterbury 1486-1504. Reverse shows solid long cross fourchee with three pellets per quarter. Reverse legend reads POSVI/DEVM A/DIVTO/R[EM]EV - CIVI/TAS/CAN/TOR. This coin is a type I facing bust issue, with no stops. See North, J.J. 1991, p.102, no.1712, class III c. Die axis is 1 o'clock, weight is 1.38g, diameter is 19.55mm, thickness is 0.72mm.
