Two fragments of stone stylus. While these two fragments do not cross-fit they may have originally come from a single artefact, however it is not possible to determine whether this was the case. Both are made from a dark grey stone (similar to, or being slate).
The shorter fragment weighs 1.02g and has an incomplete length of 25.6mm. It has a sub-cylindrical cross-section of 5.2mm diameter. Two opposing sides of the cylindrical length are flattened (reducing the diameter to a width of 4.7mm). These flattened zones have diagonal parallel grooved marks that resemble the ridges and groov…

Two lead or lead-alloy styli. Styli "of this type are known to have been in use from the Medieval to post-medieval periods. Therefore, due to a lack of contextual evidence and any diagnostic features it is not possible to date this object any more closely" see YORYM-732F91.
One of the styli is longer and thinner than the other. This one has a length of 50.0mm, a sub-circular cross-section and diameter of 5.6mm. The diameter tapers to a point over c.5.6mm of the length. The point is conical. The stylus is slightly bent at approximately halfway along the length of the artefact. Weigh…
