Record ID: CAM-974952
Object type: BELT PLATE
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Cambridgeshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Fragment of sheet copper-alloy with punched decoration, possibly part of a strap-plate or alternatively possibly a Roman penannular wide strip bracelet. It is unclear, but is potentially broken on all edges. While the fragment might be part of a strap plate, it is wider than CAM9723B1 and CAM96A3A3 especially if several of the edges have indeed broken off. The back of the artefact is undecorated while the front has linear parallel punched lines, running what might have been lengthwise. The decoration is very faint but seems to be parallel lines containing a single row of either dots o…

Fragment of copper-alloy, possibly part of a strap-plate. It appears to be rectangular but actually tapers towards one end. The widest end has had part of the artefact broken off, while it is unclear whether this is also the case at the narrower end. If it has also been broken at the narrower end the break is very straight. The break at the widest end might have been across an attachment/rivet hole but corrosion and abrasion make this difficult to determine. The back of the artefact is undecorated while the front has two linear parallel punched lines running lengthwise. The deco…

Record ID: CAM-96A3A3
Object type: BELT PLATE
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Cambridgeshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Fragment of rectangular copper-alloy, possibly part of a strap-plate. Dimensions: length 59.88mm, width 15.87mm, thickness 1.65mm, weight 7.16g. The strip is not a uniform width, narrowing to 13.99mm approximately half way along the fragment. There is an attachment/rivet hole 7.92mm from the nearest end, which has a diameter of 1.79mm. Both ends of the length appear to be damaged making it impossible to determine the original total length of the object. Both sides survive, providing the true original width of the object. The back of the artefact is undecorated while the front…
