A copper-alloy rose farthing of Charles I, 1625-1649. Obverse shows single arched crown with two sceptres in saltire through it . Obverse legend reads CAROLVS D G MAG BRI. Reverse shows single rose surmounted by single arched crown. Reverse legend reads FRAN ET HIB REX. Die axis is 12 o'clock, weight is 0.91g, diameter is 13.76mm, thickness is 1.22mm. This is a North type five, rose (type 2) variety. See North, J.J. Vol II, 1991, p.165, no.2291. Also see Spink (42nd Ed.) 2007, p.300, no.3205.
