A clipped, cracked and bent silver halfpenny of Henry VI, first reign AD 1422-1461. Calais mint, annulet issue.
The obverse initial cross is a 'roundabout' type with the annulet visible at the centre. Obverse legend reads: + hE[NR]IC REX [AN]GL. Obverse shows a forward facing crowned bust, single annulet at each shoulder. Reverse legend reads: [V]IL/LA(saltire stop)/[CA]L/IS[...]. Reverse shows a solid long cross with three pellets per quarter, two opposing quarters have a single annulet at the centre of the three pellets ('VIL' & 'CAL' quarters).
