A post-medieval Irish copper-alloy 'gunmoney' halfcrown of James II (1685-1691), dating to September 1689 (Spink S6579D). Ref: Spink 2003: 168.
The coin is corroded with damage to the surface of the flan obscuring some detail of the design and inscription.

A clipped and partially worn contemporary copy of a silver halfcrown of Charles I, AD 1625-1649. The core of this coin is copper-alloy, sandwiched between an outer silver plate on each side of the flan. Obverse legend and initial mark are missing. Obverse shows king seated on walking horse left, sword held upright, scarf flying out behind from neck, no ground visible below. Reverse shows an oval garnished shield filling all of the field. Reverse legend of [CHRISTO ]AVS[PICE REGNO] is mostly missing with the exception of the AVS, the S seems to be reversed.

Obverse shows king seated on walking horse left, scarf flying from kings waist, no ground below, sword extending up to stop at beaded border (possibly horseman type III). Reverse legend and initial mark are missing. Reverse shows an oval garnished shield filling all of the field.
