A bent but complete Roman bow brooch, of Colchester derivative hinged form, dating to c. AD43-120. This brooch weighs 5.56g and has a maximum width, across the wings, of 26.2mm. In its bent condition it has a height (length) of 30.9mm and occupies an arcing depth from front to back of 23.8mm. The wings are cylindrical but asymmetrical, with no obvious join line along the cylinder. A copper alloy Medieval - Post Medieval strap end. Weight: 10.40g, Length: 29.5mm. The terminal is sub-spherical in shape with a diameter of 16.1mm. Due to some wear an area on one side has been slightly flattened. A pair of integrally cast flat-ended prongs splay outwards and account for 13.9mm of the total length of the artefact.The width of the prongs is 5.2mm at the base where they emerge from the spherical terminal, gradually increasing in width to 7.2mm at the transverse end of the plate.
