An incomplete cast copper-alloy artefact or component part of an artefact. An exact parallel can be seen in Griffiths, D., Philpott. R. and Egan, G., 2007, pp.226 & 228, pl.48, no.3141. This reference describes the object as part of the handle from an 18th century AD rapier "Outer, curved knuckle-guard fragment...". The handle fragment described here has suffered a recurving bend which alters its shape slightly from that shown in Griffiths, D., Philpott. R. and Egan, G., 2007, pp.226. although the original artefact would have been exactly the same. The object is formed of a length …

An incomplete copper-alloy crotal bell of Post-Medieval date. The bell is spherical in shape with a height of 28.6mm. From the top of the upper hemisphere a, now missing, suspension loop would originally have projected. Only the scar of one of the vertical bars of this loop and a maximum height of 3.0mm of the other vertical bar, show the location of this missing part of the artefact. These trace remains suggest that the vertical bars had a sub-circular cross-section of 4.4mm diameter, at the base, and were set with a gap of 5.7mm apart.
