The object is circular in section with parallel sides tapering to a blunted point at one end.
The metal has a light grey/white patina and is pitted.

Gold ring, formed of a small thin hoop of circular section, decorated all over with engraved cross-hatching containing traces of black enamel. In the absence of anything comparable in the collections this is a difficult piece to place. It may be a fitting of some kind rather than a finger-ring.

Complete silver bodkin with knop on the end and eyelet, flattened shaft and tapered point. Entire upper section is engraved. Longitudinal opening surrounded by hatching with two transverse bands of lozenge pattern. Beneath the lower band, a tongue is engraved which points downwards along the shaft of the bodkin. Bent below the eyelet. Length: 111 mm. Weight: 7.49g.

Post-medieval gilded silver dress fastener with a finely cast oval cartouche, with relief decoration of an elongated renaissance style female head with unusual headdress. This has an elaborate border with fleur-de-lis at the top and bottom, and a trefoil on both sides. The reverse displays file marks, a slightly sunken circular centre, and a broken double-strand wire hook attached by solder. A loop or hook is missing, where it projected from the side of the plate.
This item is not similar to other examples dated to the 16th or 17th century, and so with no comparable material…

A sub-rectangular gold binding, not a finger-ring, comprising a flat strip, 4 mm. wide and 0.77 mm. thick, decorated externally with a five-ribbed linear reeding. A butt join on one of the long sides is secured on the inner face by a small ?soldered strip (length 9 mm.).
