Circumstances of Discovery Found in April 2008 during archaeological excavation on the site of Former sports field, Snodland prior to development, at a depth of approximately 0.2m. The find was recovered by hand from a single context containing large quantities of pottery and ceramic building material, interpreted as a demolition deposit. A medieval finger-ring formed of a slender band which broadens slightly to create a bezel, decorated with a cross between two incised triangles. The hoop of the ring is badly distorted. The ring is gold and dates from the thirteenth century. Dimensions: diameter 19 mm. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
