The ring was discovered on the 3rd of September 2010 during metal detecting of the site prior to archaeological hand excavation. The ring was discovered in the upper fill (297) of a large Medieval pit [256].
Silver finger ring, traces of gilding. Plain band ring with a slender hoop rising to a pointed bezel, plain mount with a small oval blue stone setting (glass or sapphire), damaged. This is a 'stirrup ring' of medieval date: examples have been widely recorded in copper alloy, silver and gold, frequently with blue stone settings.
