A complete Post Medieval cast copper alloy oval probable shoe or knee buckle with drilled frame for separate spindle, dating to c. AD 1660-1720. The buckle frame is narrow and curved, rising up at the points where the frame has been drilled. Only a central line around the frame remains of any decoration. The iron spindle and pin are still extant but heavily corroded into place. Dimensions: length: 27.8mm; width: 31.7mm; thickness: 1.3mm; weight: 3.18g. cf. Whitehead (1996: 97), number 600.

An incomplete  Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop oval buckle with moulded floral decoration, dating to c. AD 1550-1650. The buckle frame has moulded and incised trefoil decoration on the outer edge of each loop and at end end of the strap bar. Part of the outer edge of one loop is missing due to an old break. The pin is also missing. Traces of rust on the buckle suggest the pin was made of iron.  Dimensions: length: 27.6mm; width: 39.9mm; thickness: 2.8mm; weight: 3.63g. A similar buckle can be seen in Whitehead (1996: 65), number 401.

A Late Medieval to early Post Medieval copper alloy double loop oval buckle with cusped outer edges, dating to c. AD 1450-1600. The buckle frame has four filed grooves on each loop giving the  frame a cusped appearance. An incomplete zoomorphic Medieval copper-alloy tubular buckle frame dating from c. AD 1100 - 1200. The loop of the buckle frame is incomplete as the offset bar and pin are missing, due to an old break. The outer edge of the frame expands to a large zoomorphic head, perhaps intended to depict a dog, bear or similar animal. The buckle frame projects from the lower edge at the back of the head. The buckle has multiple moulded transverse grooves around the frame for decoration. There is a central bar and the remains of an iron pin which has led to iron staining at the base of the pin and particularly around the inner frame and reverse. A incomplete Medieval gilded copper alloy buckle plate, dating to c. AD 1200-1300. The plate comprises two rectangular halves joined by a folded tab (the second is missing, due to an old break) which holds the frame. The larger upper plate is decorated by a relief-moulded bird, which stands to the left, its long, elaborate tail curving back towards the head and bifurcating into a pair of spirals. An incomplete, Medieval to Post Medieval cast copper-alloy double-loop annular buckle, dating c. AD 1350-1650. The buckle frame is circular with a central bar creating two back to back D-shaped loops, with D shaped cross section. Part of the pin is still in situ, held firm by corrosion products. Dimensions: Diameter: 20.9mm; thickness: 6.0mm; weight: 2.19g. Buckles of this form and size are difficult to date but a range from contexts spanning the mid 14th-mid 17th centuries is shown by Egan and Pritchard (1991:65-67).

An incomplete Late Medieval to Post-Medieval copper alloy double loop rectangular framed buckle, dating to c. AD 1450-1600. The buckle is rectangular in plan with the bar slightly offset from the undecorated upper and lower outer edges of the frame. The frame to the left and right of the bar are baluster shaped, being rounded in cross-section with a waisted notch for the pin rest on either side of the frame. A fragment of Post-Medieval copper alloy buckle, dating to AD1720-1790. Upper or lower edge of a curved cast frame with a separate steel spindle which is now lost, although the hole remains. The frame has an interwoven twisted rope decoration which widens at intervals to encompass a lozenge within. The reverse is undecorated. Length: 40.5mm; width: 10mm; weight: 5g. A complete Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy buckle, of Cassel's type 1.4B, dating to AD 1300-1600. The buckle consists of a double oval frame, cast in one piece and which is slightly bowed. Each loop is oval in plan and the buckle is 'waisted' with a narrow bar dividing the two loops at the narrowest point, with moulded decoration at the ends of the central bar. A medieval double looped copper alloy buckle, dating from 1350-1400. It has a double frame with plate. The double loops are symmetrical with external frames which have an expanded outer edge and are decorated with parallel outer grooves. The pin is missing, but the separate subrectangular copper alloy sheet survives in situ. A rectangular slot has been cut to accommodate the pin and at least one perforation remains, which retains an iron rivet. A white metal coating survives on the plate.
